Both of Zhang Hanlan’s parents are coaches. He mother coaches basketball, her father soccer. When Zhang Hanlan was a child, she played soccer under the watchful eye of her dad for about five years, training with boys - most of who were two or three years older. After the end of the Liaoning Women’s Soccer Team, though, Zhang Hanlan turned to her mother and started her basketball career. Her talent in basketball was quickly recognized and she was selected into under-17 National Team. She also played for the under-21 National Team and now the senior National Team. Hanlan Zhang is a good perimeter and three-point shooter. She drilled an incredible 17 of 24 (70.8%) shots from three-point range at last year’s FIBA Asia Championship.
